It’s a very intimate album, on which Prince, once again, shows that he resided in a different universe as apposed to his peers. I don’t play it very often, but when I do I am impressed by Prince’s achievement. In the One Nite Alone… tour program 3 other cd’s were mentioned for release: Xenophobia, Last December and The Very Best Of, which have never seen the light of day (although Xenophobia was later released, be it in a different form).Īs stated above, at the time of release I was not too pleased with the album, but that changed. The 3 cd box One Nite Alone… Live! was regarded as a fulfillment on that promise. In total, 4 cd’s would be released (and shipped). One Nite Alone is Princes first album to contain new material and to not receive a full commercial release, therefore being ineligible to chart. All of the recordings on both Live! and The Aftershow were captured by Prince's sound engineer Scottie Baldwin, who shared his thoughts about the recording process for the album's liner notes.One Nite Alone… is the 25th studio album by Prince. Prince initially released the album to subscribers of and later with the boxset One Nite Alone Live albeit only in the copies shipped directly to members. The Aftershow: It Ain't Over, which provided an unprecedented document of the legendary late-night jam sessions that were a regular occurance on Prince's tours. The two-disc live album was offered as part of a box set that also included One Nite Alone. Tour, and includes a mix of some of Prince's best-known hits from the '80s and early '90s alongside more recent songs like the title track of his 2001 album, The Rainbow Children. Live! were recorded during Prince and the New Power Generation's massive One Nite Alone.

Which makes it all the more remarkable that it wasn't until 2002, when Prince was already nearly three decades into his performance career, that he issued his first live album, One Nite Alone. Prince is universally regarded as one of the greatest live performers of his generation.
